This is a classic workout of CrossFit road warriors and CrossFit affiliates alike. The Deck of Cards WOD - aka "Deck of Death".

Infinitely customizable and simple to understand.

The setup is a standard Deck of Cards, including jokers - 54 cards total.

Each suit represents an exercise and each card value equals the number of reps (Aces and Royal cards vary reps by difficulty level). The Jokers are assigned to something that you will only do once and will be challenging (ie 50 Burpees or 500m Row).

As soon as you flip a card over, the timer starts and the athletes begins turning over a single card, performing the number of reps and specific exercise depending on the card. This continues until the deck has no more cards left or you give up (DNF).

The objective is to get through the deck as quickly as possible. The workout takes about 30 minutes, and yes, its harder than it sounds (like most CrossFit workouts). Dont be scared; were here to get you fit.

You can do this workout anywhere, with little or no equipment. Pick any four movements - push-ups, squats, lunges, box jumps, pull-ups, thrusters, overhead squats, knees-to-elbows, back extensions, jumping burpee pullups, sit-ups, tire slams, tire flips...the list is endless.

Now instead of hauling around a Deck of Cards like youre the next David Blaine, you can easily use this Deck of Cards workout. Not only is it easy to use, but you dont have to think about which exercise to perform for each suit, its all right there on the screen!

Updates include multiple difficulty settings, ability to totally customize your Deck of Cards, share your pre-workout or post-workout with family and friends...all right in the app. It doesnt get any better than this!

Pros and cons of Deck of Cards WOD app for iPhone and iPad

Deck of Cards WOD app good for

I really enjoy this app. While Im not a true XFitter, I do like to do resistance/weight training but I often find it boring. This app has been great! A lot easier than bringing an actual deck of cards to the gym and it mixes things up so that I dont get bored with my workouts. Id recommend this app for sure.
This is a good app and it alleviates needing to carry a deck of cards around. I also like the different levels of difficulty and customization of the deck.

Some bad moments

Would be nice to have the option not to include the "joker" card. More importantly, it would be more convenient if users could save and name decks.
I want to give it five stars but it needs the option to save your custom Wods and Make it universal for IPad use. 3.5 stars Good update, now polish it
This has turned out to be a great workout routine at work. Get to add reps and different routines everyday. I do wish it would keep track of the reps.
User friendly, works as designed. Use it for single or group exercise....
This app always knows how to hurt me. Love the workout. But as a firefighter I could really use a pause button to make it easier to return to a session.
Always seems to know just how to make you hurt just enough. Cool
